We are happy to announce that Stanley Wong, ETC Group’s Site Builder/Energy Engineer, has been selected for the 2022 Arizona Forward Sustainability Leadership Program.

Each year, Arizona Forward, Arizona’s leading non-profit sustainability organization, selects a group of emerging business professionals in their early to mid-career for the Emerging Sustainability Leaders program. The purpose of the program is to empower new leaders with practical sustainability skills and the knowledge to enact change in their organizations and local communities. The selection criteria include: commitment to sustainability; capacity to integrate sustainability into their organization; interest in being a long-term influencer in Arizona’s sustainability initiatives; and the capacity to take on new challenges.

Stanley Wong

Stanley Wong earned a BSE in Chemical Engineering and MS in Environmental Engineering from the University of Arizona. He was heavily involved with the University of Arizona’s Students for Sustainability committee co-directing the group of over 150 members across six different committees and co-chairing Energy and Climate Committee. As a co-director, Stanley advocated sustainable changes and improvement across campus among upper administration including the CFO and President, filling any gaps not covered by the administration. Spearheading actual changes within the campus and community, Stanley collaborated with groups across the local community, such as Citizens’ Climate Lobby, to address local environmental issues with community leaders including Congressional candidates. He also wrote professional grant proposals to revitalize campus solar energy.

Stanley is a recipient of the Flinn Scholarship and Don H. White Award from the University of Arizona and won the Delta Development Team Award for Sustainable Manufacturing Innovation for a project, named “Briccycle: Recycled Waste Plastics as Building Material for Low-Cost Shelters” in 2020. Stanley has presented a talk, entitled “Agrivoltaic Arrays: Cultivating the Future of Renewable Energy” at the Association for the Advanced of Sustainability in Higher Education in 2018.
